How to Guide Brasenose Lake

Linear Fisheries

Update Feb 2008

Steve Clarke and Luke Carpenter from Hinders spent 36 hours fishing Brasenose 1.  Steve had 7 lost one, the best being 20lb (see pic above) with 4 doubles inc a 19lb 10oz and 2 singles.  Steve used Hinders Nutz Multi Mix and Edge Baits Pineapple Pop Ups dipped in Betalin fished in PVA Bags to a range of 60-80 yards.  Luke had two one double and one single fishing with Hinders Mini Combo Pellets and Edge Baits Pineapple Pop Ups, Tiger Nuts and Nutz Multimix.  They also fished Brasenose 2 for 6 hours using the same tactics catching a 5 singles and a double between them.

Being only 45 minutes away from Linear Fisheries we are often asked advice on how to fish the complex.  Steve Clarke has spent many hours carp fishing up at Linear Fisheries so has come up with his advice and top tips on how to catch carp at this fishery.

Brasenose 1

The lake is approximately 32 acres and stuffed full of Carp making this the ideal venue for learning how to Carp Fish in a safe and secure environment.  Most of the Carp went in at low single to mid double in weight and they have grown extremely quickly.  Brasenose has already had over 30lb carp captured making it a great venue for carp fishing.

Like most venues you will have to work to catch carp but if you do the rewards are huge I have caught up to 27 carp in a day session.  By top advice would be to use a Marker Rod to find the best areas to fish I have found that the margin shelfs and clear areas between the weed beds has resulted in me getting a lot more takes.

As for baiting advice the key is little and often the Brasenose Carp are extremely hungry so I generally spod five or six times at a time and then top up this up every hour or so.  The Spod Mix consists of Hemp, Chopped Tiger and Carp Krunch with a mixture of Pellet either Mini Combo or Pellet Combo works best.

Method Feeder Top Tip

The Perfect Method Feeder for Carp Fishing

Brasenose Lake is the perfect place to practice fishing the Method Feeder.  Follow our step by step guide and advice on how to perfect the Method Feeder approach for Carp Fishing.

1.      Start off with your dry ingredients in a bucket and bowl and stir well.

2.      Then add your wet ingredients but only a small bit at a time and mix well, you are looking for a slightly damp mix

3.      Add some trout pellets or particles to give your method mix that ultimate crunch!!!

4.      When you have achieved the correct consistency allow the juces to soak into the mix for a few minutes and then mould the mix around your feeder, your are then ready to go carp fishing
