I took my daughter Molly (Merritt) to Churchgate Fisheries in Essex for a night. As we arrived an hour before dark,we already had some Hinders Salamiz Multimix with Salamiz Hemp and Salamiz Concentrate Stick Bags made up. Molly wanted to use the new Mainline Fruit-Tella Dumbell Pop-Ups because she liked the colour of them. The rigs she used was a small KD rig with a size 10 Korda Kurv Shank Hook. What does she know I thought, well it turned out a lot, within 30 minutes she was playing a prime 17lb Mirror. With the pictures done Molly cast the rod back out again with the Salamiz Stick mix. 2 hours in to dark the same rod was away again with the rain hammering down Molly out there playing and landing her own fish, which turned out to be a Scaley Mirror of 11 lb. I did not even have a bleep on my rods all night, this is not first time Molly has beaten her old man.

Me and Lee have just been out on a feature with Carp-TV at Thorpe Lea fishery we arrived at the lake and got set up in peg 49. We got our rods out just before dark choosing to spod to an area 90yds out with our now successful Flamin Squidz Spod Mix consisting of the Flamin Squidz Multimix, Salt & Chilli Pepper Hemp, 10mm Mainline Fusion Boilies and Mainline Halibut dip. Hook baits were Mainline Fluro Fruitella Pop Ups with PVA bags of Mainline Response Pellet, Mini Combo Pellet and Little Gemz Pellet. Within 10 minutes we had our first fish on the bank a lovely mid-double we fished until about 11 o clock landing 12 fish between us to 21lb. We decided to reel in so we could get some sleep so that we were fit for the cameras when they arrived first thing in the morning. We spodded another 15 spods to keep the fish feeding in the area for the morning. That night was -3 and we woke to a very white Thorpe Lea we got the rods back out at first light and immediately started catching we managed to hold the fish in our area till we finished the feature at 3 o clock that afternoon. We managed 40 takes landing 36 fish in total and it was a cracking session in such cold conditions.

With the freezing weather in our mist, Rob and I were struggling to find a water we could fish which wasn't solid with ice. We opted for Birds Green fishery in Ongar, Essex. When we arrived half the lake was frozen, Rob fished one side of the island and I fished the opposite side of the lake, again to the island. We decided to use small Mainline Pop-Ups with small PVA bags filled with Hinders Elips Pellet mixed with Mainline Response Pellet. I also used a stick bag on the hook link filled with Hinders Salamiz Multimix, pellet and hemp all mixed together with Salamiz Concentrate. I kept rebaiting my rods every couple of hours in the hope the fish would fall into my traps, they certainly did that. In a 24 winter session we ended up with 7 fish between us, the biggest being a prime 20lb 10 oz common. We were well pleased with the last 24 hours of fishing we had and will certainly be returning to Birds Green for some more winter action.

With most of the Lakes around my part of the country being frozen mostly since christmas I managed to get a few nights on my syndicate lake but to no avail. After a chat with my mate Andy Maker we decided to get some action on a non frozen Thorpe Lea the forecast for the weekend was for -5 during the night me and Andy arrived on the Friday night and Lee and Tom Maker were joining us early Saturday morning. Me and Andy had a 10 fish through the night even with the freezing conditions.

Tom and Lee turned up and we all fished together we had a good laugh we ended up with over 20 fish with Toms 21 lb fish being the biggest.Saturday evening the Lake totally froze but it was a great trip and it is always great to catch your first fish of the year. All the fish fell to various Mainline Pop Ups and my spod mix consisted of Mainline Response Pellet, 10 mm Fusion Boilies, Halibut particle dip,Hinders Flamin Squidz Multi Mix ,Sea Salt and Pepper Hemp and Mini Combo. Tom, Andy and Lee all used Mainline and Hinders products for their Spod Mixes with Mainline Fluro Pop Ups for hookbaits.

After doing a overnighter between work with Rob,and me blanking while Rob caught a nice thirty plus Mirror Carp. I was hungry to do another night,so off to Broadoak we went to do another overnighter. I opted for a swim I had done well in last winter where I can fish the far margin. I walked round putting in around 50 Mainline New Grange Boilies out along 2 tubs of Salt and Pepper Hemp between the 3 rods,I also put Slicker Pellets in a Solid PVA Bag along with my hook bait.

Rob was just along from me. With the rods out it was time for a bite to eat and a cuppa before I retired to bed,as I had to be driving out the carpark at 5.30am for a 60 mile trip back to work on the M25(nice). It only seems I was asleep for seconds when my middle rod burst in to life and me slidding the net under 22lb 12oz Mirror Carp, with around 2 more hours sleep under my belt, line was slowly being taken from my left hand rod, after a great battle,Rob slipped the net under a lovely 30lb 12oz Mirror Carp.We didnt have anymore fish but 2 fish on a short overnighter is not bad at all.

Weather conditions have been excellent for fishing for this time of year and it seems all I seem to do is set up and pack up in the rain and this overnight session on a Southern Syndicate Lake was no exception. I managed to get my rods out although it was dark they were still clipped up from my last session which was handy as I baited up with 10 spods of Mainline 10mm and Chopped New Grange Boilies, Hinders Salt and Pepper Hemp and Mini Combo and Mainline Response Pellet I then stuck out a hundred 20mm New Grange Boilies to each rod. I was totaly soaked so a quick change of clothes and a cup of tea and I got my head down for the night the last 2 nights in this swim had only produced one small common so hopefully tonight was the night but when the alarm went off to get packed for work at 6.30am it looked like a blank was looming but with just my rods left to pack away when my middle rod was away after a good battle I slid the net under a old mirror on the scales she went 30lb 2 oz a quick photo and off to work.

Rob and I fished an over nighter between work on a Southern Syndicate Water which we are both members. We caught 7 fish between us, I finished with 5 fish topped by a 26lb 1oz Common Carp and Rob catching 2 fish, with the larger being a pristine 24lb 8oz Common Carp. Our hook baits were the New Grange Boilies from Mainline, we both put approximately 10 spods on each rod and after every take just topped up with another 5 spods. The spod mix consisted of Sea Salt and Chilli Pepper Hemp, Slicker Pellets and Mainline Response Pellets and Boilies in 10mm,14mm and 20mm.

After the great session that and Lee and myself had at Abbey Lakes in France a few weeks ago, when another opportunity to visit the lake for 3 nights came about I grabbed it with both hands. I arrived at the lake on Thursday afternoon and opted for Swim 2 on Fox lake which would allow me to fish a couple of rods into Heron as I was really keen to catch a biggie.Within a couple of hours I managed a 33lb Common Carp and a 31lb Fully Scaled Carp from a silty area at 120yds range. During the night I took another 4 fish from that spot to 41lb. I lost one fish on Heron and on the Friday morning managed to land a 46lb 12oz from Heron which I was well chuffed with. My rigs consisted of Size 6 Korda Longshank Hooks with 2 x 10mm Mainline Fusion Bottom Baits fished in a PVA Bag of Mini Combo Pellet and Chopped Mainline Fusion Boilies. The fishing dried up on Fox Lake but I caught a few more on Heron, I had a great couple of days and finished up with 12 carp including 6 thirtys, 3 over 40lb+ and I even caught my first Sturgeon.

Armed with two invites to the Abbey Carp Challenge, Lee and Rob arrived at Abbey Lakes in France and after a walk round they both opt for Fox lake - Lee picking peg 17 and Rob going for peg 13. Lee's tactics were to fish all 3 rods in open water at a depth of 15 ft, over the 4 nights Lee had 13 fish including 6 thirties and 2 forties up to 47lb 3oz which resulted in him winning the competition. All the fish were caught on Mainline Cell Dumbells topped with off a yellow 10mm pop up, put in a solid pva bag with Elips Pellets with Cell Dip poured in the bag. Lee also put Salamiz Hemp in the boat hopper.

Peg 13 where Rob had plotted up was very weedy with a large bay to his left, with depths ranging from 9 ft to 14 ft. Rob placed his baits which consisted of double 10mm Mainline Fusion Boilies along with Mini Combo Pellets again all in a solid pva bag. Salt and Chilli Pepper Hemp was put in the boat hopper and dropped on the back of the weed beds where he had seen a number of fish showing. Using this method Rob had 16 fish upto 44lb 3oz.

This 2009 Abbey Challenge finished with Lee taking 1st place and Rob finishing a close 2nd, with both anglers using Hinders and Mainline Baits.
Rob and Lee have just returned from doing a feature for Total Carp Magazine they fished Par fisheries in Essex. They had another succesful trip catching carp to 27lb. The Hinders Salamiz Hemp,Snax Pellet,Salamiz Multimix with Mainline Grange Boilies did the buisness for Lee whilst Rob had fish on Mainline Pineapple Pop Ups with PVA bags of Hinders Mini Combo Pellet.

I arrived at the lake on Monday afternoon it was fairly busy my only real option was to fish a swim that had not been productive for me on 2 sessions this year. Its a tricky swim to fish and a cross wind can make it a really awkward to get a bait on the spot, at 145yds the wind was spot on and I quickly got 2 rods on the spot. I baited the area with my already sucessful spod mix, Salamiz Hemp, Snax Pellet, Multimix and Mainline New Grange Boilies and Response Pellet. I baited with around 5kg of mix it was soon dark by 12 pm I started to receive liners but no runs occured I was practicly packed up by 6.30am when one of my rods was away. The fish proceeded to find every weedbed on the way in with it totally weeding me up just 10 yds out I pulled from every angle and eventually got her moving. The next problem was there was a massive ball of weed with the fish, the angler next door was on hand to assist with the netting and eventually we got the fish on the scales 32lb 15oz, saved from another blank and I finally got to work if not a bit late! I arrived back at the lake Wednesday evening I jumped back into the same swim fishing exactly the same methods as before i managed 4 fish to 25lb so it turned out to be another successful couple of nights.

Last week was a very productive couple of nights I got to the lake Monday late afternoon and to my surprise found the lake empty a local angler had just packed up from a night on the point swim he had caught a couple and he had seen a few fish around so after a look around i decided it was worth a go. The wind was pushing in nicely I found a nice rocky area at around 110yds I put out 5 kilos of a spod mix which consisted of Salamiz Hemp, Salamiz Snax Pellets, Salamiz Multi Mix and Mainline New Grange Boilies and Response Pellet. I fished both rods on the baited area I received my first take at around 10.30pm and after a good battle slid the net under a 25lb common. I spodded another 10 spods out after ever fish I had a total of 8 fish with the biggest mirrors of 27lb ,28lb,29lb 30lb 4oz, 31lb 8oz and 34lb 8oz. Totally exhausted with no sleep I packed up for work.

With pefect weather forcast I was back down the lake tuesday night the fish were showing in the open bank swim again I found a really nice area at around 80yds with the same tactics as the previous night I had 4 fish to 32lb 12oz. The carp are really starting to get on my bait and it is paying the rewards.
After a baron spell for me at my Broadoak syndicate, I decided to do a night between work at a club water I belong to in Kent. While watching the water looking for fish before picking a swim, I noticed in the margins a lot of zerba mussels, which I gathered to crush up and put in with my Salamiz Hemp,my hook bait consisted of a 14mm Mainline New Grange Boilie with a 10mm Pop Up,and around 10 spods of Salamiz Hemp with the crushed zerba mussels mixed in with it. I was fishing at approx 100 yards to a gravel seam. At 6.30am the following morning my right hand rod burst in to life, with the result being a lovely mid thirty mirror carp.

I have recently turned my interests into a new water its definitely needed a think about how I fish it but in 10 nights fishing I have had 26 fish to 37lb 12oz. My winning method has been large beds of bait at long range mostly(140yds plus) my mix consists of Salamiz Hemp,Salamiz Multimix and plenty of Salamiz Concentrate with Mainlines New Grange Boilies in various sizes with a 14mm bottom bait with a small Salamiz Stick. With the lake holding a few 40lb+ carp hopefully I can winkle a few of the really big girls!

I've just returned from 4 nights in France with my girlfriend Jo,I had 5 fish up to 45lb 8oz and Jo having 2 fish to 33lb 6oz.Not many fish you may think, but the temp was 42 degrees for 2 of the days.People were having a odd fish here and there.I was boating our baits out 180 yards to the far margins on to a shallow spot of around 4 ft.The winning formula for us was Mainline Hi-viz 14mm Pineapple Pop Ups,fished over Mainline Cell Response Pellet, mixed with Hinders Big Bite Como Pellet and Hinders French Mix with Betalin Particle.

After getting away from work early one afternoon, I decided to do an overnighter at my syndicate, "BROADOAK". I was in a swim in which you are only allowed two rods because of the confined space and its a snaggy swim. Both rods went out with the same baits on 14mm Mainline New Grange boilie tipped with a piece of plastic corn, with small holes in the corn made with a baiting needle and soaked in Hinders Betalin. Both baits had Funnel Web bags filled with Hinders Elips Pellet and the New Grange Mainline Pellet hooked on them. Within 1 hour I was in, after a good scrap I had a lovely 31lb 12oz mirror on the mat. Re-casting both rods out again I was confident I would have another bite as I could hear the fish in the pads. Around 10.00pm the other rod was away, again the fish put a great account for itself, as all the fish do in Broadoak, but this was not getting away. 10 minutes later the fish was in the weigh sling, and weighing 27lb 14oz. Unfortunately I didn't have anymore action on this trip and had a good nights sleep, I was really happy with the results of a quick overnighter, and a 110 miles round trip.

Rob managed to take his son Fletcher for his first overnight session to a local water they fished bags with Salamiz Multi Mix and Mini Combo Pelletts with Mainline New Grange Boilies. They managed 72 carp between them and as you can see Fletcher is totally hooked!!!

20th July 2009
Its Bcac semi final time we managed to get up to Bradleys for a practise 10 days before the match we practised in an area that was to be new in the match we had several different tactics to try we found the Salamiz Sticks and pellets worked well also our Salamiz Spod Mix worked well with Mainline Fluoro Pop Ups we caught plenty of fish and by the end of the session we were totally confident in our approach.

The semi final

We had a good draw coming out 5th and were confident we could put a few fish on the bank but the venue did not fish at all well with only 9 pairs managing to catch out of 25 and with only seven going through to the final we were lucky enough to catch a carp but it was only big enough to put us in 9th missing 7th by 2lb so we will have to wait till next year for another try.
Lee has come straight back from his holiday and got down to Broadoak for a couple of nights he managed carp of 38lb 9oz and 28 lb14oz and 26lb 3oz . All were caught in a small bay near some pads Hinders Salamiz Hemp and Pellets and Mainline New Grange Boilies did the trick.

Whilst Lee has been on holiday I have been prebating Eridge Lake on the Broadoak fisheries preparing for June 16th I have been prebating with Hinders Salamiz Hemp and and the new Grange Boilies from Mainline in 10mm and 14mm within an hour of start of the season I received a fast take to my margin rod after a really good battle I got the fish up for the net I recognised it straight away as Joes Common it was a fish I really wanted to catch I got in the net first attempt and she weighed 37lb 2oz she looked well spawned out but I was well chuffed. I also had a 25lb 12oz mirror before morning .Me and Lee are up to Bradleys this week to practise for the BCAC semi final we will let you now how we get on.

Our BCAC qualifier came around and although we had a bad draw coming out 8th out of 12th we managed to get enough fish to be in 2nd after 24hrs and 1st after 40hrs and by the end of the match we ended up 3rd a right result from the opposite end to where the fish mostly were. The Salamiz Multi Mix with Salamiz Hemp and Salamiz Concentrate fished as a stick mix and method mix fished with Mainline Fluoro Pop Ups did the business.

It is British championship time again me and Lee were booked on back Todber Manor we decided to have a practice a couple weeks before the match armed with some of the new products from Hinders and Mainline we managed to get a couple of swims next to each other. After chatting about tactics we agreed that we would base our methods around the Salamiz Range using the multi mix for sticks and the Snax Pellets plus Little Gems for the PVA bags the new Mainline Indian Spice Pop Ups and also the multi mix for a method mix both worked well from the start both me and Lee landed plenty of fish during the night.

The next day was red hot it was time for a bit of zig fishing we spodded out a 50-50 mix of Spod Soup and Nutz Sludge we soon got the fish going on 18inch hooklinks in 4 ft of water with trimmed down Mainline Pineapple Pop Ups. The afternoon cooled down we decided to make up a spod mix consisting of Salamiz Hemp, Multi Mix and dip fishing over 10 mini spods each we soon got the carp going crazy, by the morning we had landed 65 fish to 26lb a very good weekends fishing and giving us hopefully an edge for the up and coming match we will let you know how we got on.

Cheers
Rob and Lee
For over 10 years now myself and Lee have been using Hinders products to include a wide range of particles and pellets in conjunction with our Mainline Products to great success. This has not only been for our carp match fishing but also for big carp too. Hinders have extended their range every year giving carp anglers a massive choice of baiting options. We use the Spod Soup and Nutz Sludge for all our zig rig fishing and have had great success with the Blitz Multi Mix. This year we will be using some of the new products and will be reporting some of our results in both our carp matches and our big carp fishing.
