Ryan Simmons Catch Report

I'm Ryan Simmons and am 14 years old.  My P.B. is 20lb 4oz which I caught along with 31 others on a two night session with my Dad.  Here is how I caught them.

Well it was on my most recent session that I caught them. Me and my Dad turned up on a Friday afternoon and after not seeing any other anglers on the lake we decided to move on to two reliable swims where fish are always patrolling the margins.  I was in a swim next to an overhanging tree to my left.

After setting up the bivvies, I threw about 20 Flamin Squid Boilies in each of the areas that I chose to fish.  So after putting a single hook bait of Flamin Squid Boilies I put my rods down on the banksticks and waited for the fish to come and find my bait.  It didn't take long as within thirty minutes I was playing a 14lb Common Carp on my favourite Claw Rig.

I tie my own hair rigs and the claw rig has been the most sucessful rig for me.  I tie this rig by using the following rig bits: Korda Kurv Shank Hooks Size 6, Korda Small Rig Rings, Korda Medium Shrink Tube, Korda Stiff Link and Kryston Heavy Metal Putty. I find the running rig system works well with this rig.

After catching 12 carp before 9pm, I decided to double up on the boilies on my hook and using the boilies and Mini Combo Pellets as a loose feed.  By 10pm I had caught another carp around the 16lb mark.  I then put a little more bait in and tried to get some sleep.  I only had a short nap as my Dad's left rod took off on a 'one toner'.  He played it in and it was a nice 12lb Common.  Through out the night we had 9 more carp and a tench totalling 22 fish so far.

At about 8.00am we finished our bacon rolls and a couple more anglers moved onto the lake.  We caught another 8 fish between 9.00am and 1.00pm.  It went a little bit quiet so I kept feeding the swim but was only getting line bites, then suddenly my right hand rod screamed off.  As I struck at the rod the carp wouldn't stop until it went into the reeds, I managed to get it out and after 3-4 minutes got the carp safely into the net.  This proved to be my new PB a 20lb 4oz Common Carp.

I think that Hinders Bait is a quality brand and would recommend them to anyone.  After this hectic 2 night session we were delighted to catch 31 fish between Dad and myself

Cheers
