These pellets are the best bait for barbel I have ever used.  On Saturday I went down to my local fishing lakes and caught a clonking barbel weighing 6 1/2 pounds.

"I hear lots of barbel anglers talking about all sorts of secret 'wonder baits' - but I have yet to discover a bait that barbel like more than the brilliant Hinders' Elips pellets.

"There's no need to complicate things. Just tie a simple knotless knot hair rig, but don't worry about tying a loop in the hair, simply leave a straight tag and superglue two large Elips pellets to it, back to back. If chub or bream prove a problem, I sometimes leave a longer hair and glue on four pellets.

"If you can see the bottom and loose feed by hand, then introduce no more than a dozen pellets around your rig. Otherwise, tie a small pva bag with about eight large Elips pellets and a few small and medium ones.

"If there are barbel within 40m of you, and you don't spook them, you should get a three-foot twitch within 20 minutes of casting out!"
